Hard Rubbish Kingston: Bookings, Items and Disposal
Kingston links booked hard waste to the normal bin day. The booking deadline uses business days, the set-out time is early, and the skip-permit application charge is separate from placement time.
Rules and charges checked 14 October 2026. Local Skip Bins Melbourne is an independent referral service, not affiliated with Kingston council or its collection contractor. Book council hard rubbish through the Kingston council collection route. This page’s quote form is for private skip enquiries.
For a Monday collection, reserve before Friday afternoon
Eligible council-bin households receive two hard-waste collections per financial year. Book before 3 pm on the business day before normal bin day. A Monday pickup therefore uses Friday’s cutoff. Council sends confirmation within 24 hours. A single booking is 2 m³, illustrated as 2 m long × 1 m high × 1 m deep; a double uses both allocations for 4 m length with the same height and depth. Extra collections are $95 each. Confirm the reservation before setting out the pile.

Have the pile ready by five in the morning
Set out by 5 am on collection day, ideally one or two days beforehand. Where the nature strip is unsuitable, council has an alternative within one metre inside the front fence, but you must specify it when booking. Do not choose an internal location without that agreement. Separate mattress and metal streams from general items: their trucks can arrive the following day. Follow council’s missing-collection instruction after 4 pm on the day after the booked pickup.

Measure item weight and the small timber allowance
Ordinary items must be under 40 kg and no longer than 1.5 m. Mattresses can be any size, with a maximum two per booking. Remove fridge/freezer doors and batteries from battery-powered electronics. Carpet and underlay are each limited to one roll up to 1.5 m. The timber allowance is six pieces at the published 2 cm × 4 cm × 1.5 m dimensions. Cupboards, doors, concrete, pavers, rubble, sinks, tiles, fencing, tyres, batteries, gas bottles and solar panels are refused.

Add the application fee to the selected placement rate
Council-land skip permission has a $109 application charge plus $34 per day or $141 per week. These are council charges, not the operator’s hire/disposal total. The provider applies online with $20 million insurance and placement details; allow up to three business days for review. A payment receipt confirms lodgement, not approval. The approved frontage parking-lane location must leave three metres of roadway, with the required reflectors/lights. Keep footpaths and landscaped nature-strip areas clear.
Match the refused material to a named transfer route
The directory lists Bayside Waste and Recycling Centre at 144 Talinga Road, Cheltenham; Cleanaway Clayton at the corner of Fraser and Osborne roads, Clayton South; Rhino Bins at 24–30 Fonceca Street, Mordialloc; and Frankston Regional Recycling and Recovery Centre. Those entries link the destination rather than promising one shared gate price. Confirm whether it accepts the particular sink, battery or rubble load before travelling. For a skip, include access, permitted placement time and the material categories in the quote request.
For the private-bin alternative, compare measured skip sizes and Melbourne skip placement permission. Check the referral service-area guide and confirm delivery with the responding provider. Return to the Melbourne council comparison for another municipality.
Questions about this collection
When do I book for a Monday bin-day pickup?
Before 3 pm on Friday, the preceding business day. The council rule uses business days, not the Sunday immediately before collection.
Can the pile be inside my front fence?
Only the council’s stated alternative within one metre, and the placement must be specified when booking. It is not an automatic permission for any internal location.
Does a double booking mean a taller pile?
No. The council example doubles length from two to four metres while retaining one metre height and one metre depth.
Why have the mattresses remained after other items were taken?
Mattress and metal trucks are separate and can arrive the next day. Follow council’s reporting instruction after 4 pm on that following day.
What does a week of skip placement cost in council fees?
The published charges are a $109 application fee plus $141 for the week. These permit charges are separate from the operator’s hire and disposal quote.
Does payment mean the skip has permission to arrive?
No. The receipt confirms lodgement; council reviews the application, with up to three business days stated. Wait for approval.
