Hard Rubbish Cardinia: Bookings, Items and Disposal
Cardinia’s included service follows the household’s council-bin eligibility. Use the linked Cleanaway booking route, and note that this council’s fridge instruction is to tape the doors shut.
Rules and charges checked 14 October 2026. Local Skip Bins Melbourne is an independent referral service, not affiliated with Cardinia council or its collection contractor. Book council hard rubbish through the Cardinia council collection route. This page’s quote form is for private skip enquiries.
Renters can use the residential council-bin entitlement
Households receiving council bins have two included collections per financial year, including renting households. Businesses and properties using private waste services are ineligible for that included allocation. A single is 2 m³; combining both gives 4 m³. Up to two extra collections cost $100 each. Book through the council-linked Cleanaway portal or phone route. Booking changes are by phone. Council recommends booking at least two weeks before moving and describes April–September as quieter; that advice does not guarantee a slot.

Finish the weekend set-out before Monday morning
Items must be ready by 6 am Monday of the booked week. Present metal/e-waste, general household items and bundled branches in their separate groups, with mattresses accessible. Tape fridge and freezer doors shut and remove batteries from electronics. The limits are two mattress/base pieces in total, six solar panels and four standard car tyres. Wrap and label glass, tie carpet rolls and keep timber shorter than 1.5 m with nails removed. Prepare the pile after the booking confirms the correct week.

Dried paint remains excluded while empty tins have a rule
Paint, including dried contents, is refused. Empty tins need lids removed. Items over 30 kg or 1.5 m are excluded apart from named mattress/fridge exceptions. Building material, asbestos, cement sheeting, fencing, barbed wire, soil, loose green waste, gas bottles and batteries do not belong in the collection. The listed solar-panel allowance does not turn council hard rubbish into a building-site clearance. Separate those loads before deciding how much eligible household waste fits into the two- or four-cubic-metre booking.

Residential placement and building sites have different permits
For a skip on a road or council land, retain safe pedestrian access and obtain permission. Council’s July 2026 forms and current page agree: an established residential property is $65 for up to seven days; a building site is $144 for up to three months. The application fee is not refunded if refused. Submit a location sketch/photo and $20 million public-liability evidence. The online OpenForms route is described as quickest; downloaded forms can be returned by post, email or in person, with payment arranged through council.

Check Pakenham or another listed destination before travelling
The waste-drop directory links Future Recycling Transfer Station Pakenham, Cleanaway Lysterfield, Grantville, Hampton Park Outlook and Frankston Regional. Small-electronics community drop-offs are a different service and do not accept an entire household or renovation load by implication. For a private bin, give the provider the separate waste categories, approximate loose volume and address access. A collection allocation does not guarantee operator stock or create an entitlement at a privately managed transfer station.
For the private-bin alternative, compare measured skip sizes and Melbourne skip placement permission. Check the referral service-area guide and confirm delivery with the responding provider. Return to the Melbourne council comparison for another municipality.
Questions about this collection
Can a renter use the two included collections?
Yes, where the residential household receives council bins. Businesses and properties with private waste arrangements are outside that entitlement.
How do I amend my Cleanaway booking?
The council page directs booking changes through its phone route. Do not promise that the online portal can alter an existing reservation.
Do fridge doors come off in Cardinia?
Cardinia instructs residents to tape fridge/freezer doors shut. E-waste has a separate instruction to remove batteries.
Can dried paint go out in a tin?
No. Paint, including dried contents, is excluded. Only empty tins with lids removed meet the listed tin rule.
What is the cost after the included balance is used?
The council lists up to two additional hard-waste collections at $100 each. Those are collection charges, distinct from skip-placement permission.
Can a building-site skip use the $65 residential permit?
The published categories differ: established residential property up to seven days is $65; building-site placement for three months is $144.
